Getting started

What is ToolsWar?

One place to save media from links you're allowed to download and to work on files: trim and convert video, resize and convert images, edit audio, merge, split and compress PDFs, create and extract archives, and pull text out of images. Results land in your own file library.

Do I need an account?

Yes. Downloads and processing run under your account so your files stay private and your plan's limits can apply. Create an account, then confirm your email address: downloads and processing start once it's verified.

How do I run my first job?
  • To save from a link: open the downloader, paste the link, choose the quality or audio only, and start.
  • To work on a file: open Tools, pick a tool, upload a file or choose one from your library, adjust the options and run it.

You can watch progress live, cancel or retry, then save the result to your device or find it later in My files.

Can I install ToolsWar like an app?

Yes. ToolsWar is a web app you can add to your home screen or desktop. On iPhone and iPad, open the share menu in Safari and choose "Add to Home Screen". On Android and in desktop Chrome or Edge, use "Install app" from the browser menu. You still need an internet connection to download and process files.

How do I change the language or theme?

Use the language and theme buttons in the page header. Your language is also saved to your profile, so account emails arrive in the language you chose.

Which websites are supported?

ToolsWar recognises YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Facebook, Reddit, Pinterest, Vimeo, Dailymotion and Telegram links, as well as direct links to files such as MP4, MP3, JPG, PDF or ZIP. Many other sites work too through the general extractor.

The downloader page shows the current status of each source. Websites change often, so a source can occasionally be degraded while it's being fixed.

How do I choose quality, or get audio only?

Paste the link and press analyse. You'll see the available formats with resolution and approximate size. Pick one, choose "Best" for the highest available quality, or choose audio only to get just the soundtrack.

Can I download playlists or several links at once?

Yes. When a link contains several items (a playlist, a carousel or an album), you can pick which ones to save. You can also paste several links at once. Each item counts towards your daily downloads, and the number per batch depends on your plan.

Why does it say the content is private or needs sign-in?

ToolsWar only downloads content that's publicly accessible. If a post is private, limited to followers or members, age-restricted behind a sign-in, or requires an account, it can't be fetched, and we never use anyone else's credentials to reach it. If the content is yours, download it from the platform directly or make it accessible first.

What does "unsupported link" or "no media found" mean?
  • Unsupported link: the address isn't a web page or file we can read. Check that you copied the full link, starting with https://.
  • No media found: the page loaded, but it contains no video, audio or image we can save. Try the link to the post itself rather than a profile or home page.
  • Live streams can't be downloaded while they're live; try again once the recording is published.

Why are some videos refused as protected or unavailable in my region?

Content protected by DRM (common on paid streaming services) is refused: ToolsWar doesn't circumvent copy protection. Some content is also restricted by its owner to certain countries; when the source blocks access, the download stops with a clear message.

I hit the daily download limit. When does it reset?

Daily downloads reset at the start of each day in UTC (3:00 AM Saudi time). Each saved item counts once, including items picked from a playlist. You can see today's usage on your dashboard and compare limits on Plans.

A download failed. What should I do?

Most failures are temporary: the source was slow, rate-limited us or changed its page. Press retry on the job card after a few minutes. If the same source keeps failing, it may be under maintenance; check its status on the downloader page.

How do Telegram downloads work?

On plans that include Telegram, connect your own Telegram account from the downloader using your phone number and the code Telegram sends you. You can then browse the chats and channels your account can already access and pick media to save.

Content marked as protected from forwarding or saving is skipped. You can disconnect at any time, which deletes the stored session.

Tools and formats

What can the tools do?
  • Video: trim, cut, merge, split, convert, compress, resize, crop, rotate, add subtitles or a watermark, extract audio and grab thumbnails.
  • Images: convert, resize, compress, crop, rotate, flip, watermark and remove metadata.
  • Audio: convert, trim, merge, compress, normalise loudness and edit tags.
  • PDF and documents: merge, split, compress, rotate, reorder and extract pages, watermark, turn pages into images or images into a PDF, and convert between Office formats and PDF.
  • Archives: create ZIP, 7z or TAR files, and extract all or selected items from an archive.
  • Text recognition (OCR): pull text out of images and scanned PDFs in Arabic, English or both.

Browse everything in Tools.

What does "approximate conversion" mean?

A few conversions can't be exact by nature, mainly turning a PDF into an editable document (Word or ODT), where the layout has to be rebuilt. These results are marked approximate: the text and images are kept, but fonts, spacing and tables may not match the original. Check the result and keep your original.

Is there a maximum file size?

Yes, it depends on your plan: currently 500 MB on Free, 4 GB on Pro and 10 GB on Business. The upload box shows your limit, and Plans has the full comparison.

Why is my job waiting in the queue?

Each plan allows a number of jobs to run at the same time (currently 2 on Free). Extra jobs wait and start automatically as soon as one finishes. Heavy jobs such as long video conversions also count towards your monthly processing minutes.

Link to this answer
How accurate is text recognition?

Clear, well-lit scans with straight lines give the best results. Choose the right language before running (Arabic, English or both). Handwriting, low resolution and decorative fonts reduce accuracy, so proofread the text before using it.

Files, storage and retention

Where do my files go?

Everything you upload, download or produce goes to My files. You can organise it into folders, add tags and favourites, search, spot duplicates and run tools directly on any file.

Link to this answer
How long are my files kept?

According to your plan. With the current defaults, files are deleted automatically after 7 days on Free and 90 days on Pro, and kept until you delete them on Business. The period is set when a file is added, so save anything you need to keep to your own device. See Plans for the current values.

I deleted a file by mistake. Can I get it back?

Yes, if it's within 30 days. Deleted files and folders go to Trash in My files, where you can restore them. After 30 days they're deleted permanently, and "Empty trash" or "Delete permanently" removes them straight away.

Link to this answer
My storage is full. What now?

New uploads and job results are refused until you free up space. Delete files you no longer need and empty Trash, since files in Trash still count towards your storage. Your current usage, broken down by file type, appears in My files.

How do I save a file to my device?

Press "Save to device" on the job card or in My files. ToolsWar creates a signed link that expires quickly, so start the save right away; if the link expires, simply press the button again.

Account and security

What is a passkey and why should I use one?

A passkey lets you sign in with your face, fingerprint or device PIN instead of a password. It's tied to ToolsWar's address, so it can't be phished, and your biometric data never leaves your device. Add one in security settings.

Link to this answer
Which devices can I use for passkeys?
  • iPhone, iPad and Mac: Face ID or Touch ID, synced through iCloud Keychain.
  • Windows: Windows Hello (face, fingerprint or PIN).
  • Android: fingerprint, face or screen lock, saved to your Google Password Manager.
  • Security keys: a USB or NFC key such as a YubiKey.
  • Another phone: on a computer without a passkey, choose to use a phone and scan the QR code.

We recommend adding at least two passkeys, for example your phone and your computer, so losing one device doesn't lock you out.

How do I turn on two-factor authentication?

In security settings, set up an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password) by scanning the QR code and entering the 6-digit code, or turn on sign-in codes by email. After a password sign-in, you'll be asked for a code.

Link to this answer
What are recovery codes?

When you turn on two-factor authentication you get 10 recovery codes. Each one works once, in place of a 2FA code, if you lose access to your authenticator. Store them somewhere safe and offline, such as a password manager or a printed copy.

You can generate a new set at any time in security settings; doing so cancels all the old codes.

I lost my phone. How do I get back in?

Sign in with your password, then use a recovery code or an email code instead of the authenticator. Or sign in with a passkey on another device. Once you're in, remove the lost device's passkey, set up 2FA again and sign out other sessions.

Why am I asked to confirm my identity again?

For sensitive changes, such as your password, two-factor settings, passkeys, signing out other devices or deleting your account, ToolsWar asks you to confirm it's really you, even if you're already signed in. This protects your account if someone gets hold of an unlocked device.

Link to this answer
How do I see where I'm signed in?

Security settings lists your active sessions with the browser and device, IP address and last activity, along with your security log. Sign out any session you don't recognise and change your password.

Link to this answer
I forgot my password.

Use Forgot password on the sign-in page. We'll email a reset link that works for a limited time. If you have a passkey, you can also sign in with it and change your password from security settings.

Plans and limits

What do the plans include?

Plans differ in daily downloads, storage, maximum file size, simultaneous jobs, monthly processing minutes, batch size and file retention. Telegram integration is included in Pro and Business. See the full, current comparison on Plans.

Link to this answer
Can I pay for a plan?

Not yet. Payments are switched off: paid plans are listed for reference, nothing is charged and we don't ask for card details. An administrator can assign a plan to an account manually, at no cost.

Link to this answer
When do limits reset?
  • Daily downloads: at the start of each day in UTC (3:00 AM Saudi time).
  • Processing minutes: at the start of each calendar month.
  • Storage: frees up as soon as you delete files permanently or they expire.
Link to this answer
What happens when I reach a limit?

New requests of that type are refused with a message explaining which limit you reached. Jobs already running continue, and nothing you've stored is deleted because of a limit. Your current usage is on your dashboard.

Privacy and data

What does ToolsWar store about me?

Your account details, the files in your library, a record of your jobs and downloads, and security logs (including IP address and browser for each session). No ads, no tracking cookies, and we don't sell data. Read the details in the privacy policy.

Link to this answer
How do I export my data?

In account settings, choose export to download a JSON copy of your profile, file details, jobs, downloads, sessions and security log. It never includes passwords or secrets. To keep the files themselves, save them from My files.

Link to this answer
How do I delete my account?

In account settings, choose delete account and confirm your identity. Your files, folders, history, sign-in methods and connected accounts are deleted, and you're signed out everywhere. This can't be undone, so save anything you need first.

Can I download any video I find?

Only content you own or have the right to save. You're responsible for respecting copyright and the platform's terms. ToolsWar doesn't break DRM or reach private content. See the terms of service.
