Digital signature (certificate)
Sign the PDF digitally with your own certificate file (.p12 / .pfx). This is a certificate signature that readers can verify, unlike the visible “Sign PDF”.
About Digital signature (certificate)
This tool adds a certificate-based digital signature to a PDF using your own certificate file. Unlike the visible signature of Sign PDF, readers can check who signed and whether the file changed afterwards.
- What you add
- Two files: the PDF to sign, and your certificate file (.p12 or .pfx).
- What you get
- One digitally signed PDF.
How to use it
- Add the PDF, then your certificate file.
- Enter the certificate password if it has one.
- Choose whether to show a signature box and fill in its details, then start.
- Download the signed PDF.
Settings
- Certificate password: used for this signature only and not kept.
- Show a signature box: draws the signature details on the page; without it the signature is invisible but still verifiable.
- Box page, position, width and height (pt).
- Reason for signing, place of signing and signer name (empty uses the name in the certificate).
Good to know
- We don't issue certificates; you sign with a certificate you already have.
- Readers show the signer as trusted only if they trust the authority that issued the certificate; a self-made certificate shows as unknown.
- Changing the PDF after signing shows up as a change when the signature is checked, so make all edits first.
Your files are processed only for this operation and deleted when it finishes. No one at Tools War can view what you upload.
